Abstract Background Extrachromosomal acentric double minutes (DMs) contribute to human malignancy by carrying amplified oncogenes. Recent cancer genomics revealed that the pulverization of defined chromosome arms (chromothripsis) may generate DMs, however, nobody had actually generated DMs from chromosome arm in culture.
