International Barcode of Life project (iBOL)

The International Barcode of Life Project (iBOL) was formally activated in October 2010. Its first phase (2010-2015) will lead to the acquisition of DNA barcode records for 5M specimens representing 500K species. iBOL will release each barcode record in two phases. The initial phase will release barcode sequence(s), trace files, high-level (ordinal) taxonomic assignment, GPS co-ordinates and the country of collection.
