Field Trials of an Instrumented Conventional Lifeboat

Full scale trials were completed in which a 20 person conventional totally enclosed motor propelled survival craft (TEMPSC) was driven into pack ice and level first year ice. The purpose of these tests was to measure force magnitudes involved in ice impact, as well as to gain an understanding of lifeboat performance in various ice conditions.
