Frictional stress formulation for solid-liquid two-phase flows

A formulation of the frictional stress for flowing granular materials is presented. The objective is to provide a model for the frictional stresses which is suitable for solids-liquid, two-phase flows. The new formulation overcomes the main problem facing two-phase modeling that involves granular materials; namely the ability to account for stagnant regions where the granular phase remains at rest.
